1. Definitions

• "Raku Room" — the interior design practice operating from 27 Jalan Bangsar, 59200 Kuala Lumpur
• "Service" — any of the three services offered: Character Reading, Considered Design & Documentation, or Faithful Execution Support
• "Client" — the individual or entity engaging Raku Room for a Service
• "Agreement" — these terms, together with any written service proposal accepted by the Client
• "Deliverables" — the documents, drawings, specifications, and other outputs produced as part of a Service
• "Site" — this website at rakuroom.blog

2. Acceptance of Terms

By using this website or engaging Raku Room for a Service, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or engage our services. You confirm that you are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement under Malaysian law.

3. Service Description

Raku Room offers three interior design services:

• Character Reading (MYR 450) — a site visit, written observation notes, and reference imagery, delivered within one week
• Considered Design & Documentation (MYR 3,300) — spatial planning, material specification, 3D visualisation, two revision sessions, and a complete specification set over 6–10 weeks
• Faithful Execution Support (MYR 1,750) — renovation coordination, craftsperson briefing, site monitoring, and a final styling session over 8–14 weeks

Services are available within the Klang Valley. Work outside this area may be possible subject to discussion and may involve additional fees.

4. Engaging a Service

A service engagement is formed when Raku Room issues a written service proposal and the Client confirms acceptance in writing. No binding engagement exists until both parties have confirmed in writing. Raku Room reserves the right to decline any enquiry at its discretion.

5. Fees and Payment

Service fees are as stated in the current service descriptions and confirmed in each individual proposal. All fees are in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

Payment schedule

• Character Reading: full fee payable before the site visit
• Considered Design & Documentation: 50% on engagement, 50% on delivery of final documentation
• Faithful Execution Support: 50% on engagement, 25% at the midpoint, 25% on completion of the styling session

Accepted payment methods

Bank transfer to Raku Room's Malaysian account (details provided in each proposal). Online payment options may be offered where available.

6. Revisions and Scope Changes

The number of revision sessions included in each service is as described in the service specification. Requests for revisions beyond the included number, or requests to materially change the scope of a project after work has commenced, may be subject to additional fees. Raku Room will confirm any additional fees in writing before proceeding.

7. Timelines

Indicative timelines are stated in each service description. Actual timelines depend on factors including the pace of client review and approval, access to the property, and the availability of third-party suppliers or craftspeople. Raku Room will communicate proactively about any factors affecting timeline.

8. Intellectual Property

All drawings, specifications, visualisations, and other Deliverables produced by Raku Room remain the intellectual property of Raku Room until full payment has been received. Upon receipt of full payment, Raku Room grants the Client a non-exclusive licence to use the Deliverables for the specific property and project for which they were produced.

The Client may not reproduce, adapt, or use the Deliverables for any other property or purpose without the prior written consent of Raku Room.

9. Client Responsibilities

The Client agrees to:

• Provide accurate and complete information about the property and project requirements
• Provide timely access to the property for site visits and inspections
• Review and respond to proposals and revision requests within a reasonable time
• Make payments according to the agreed schedule
• Inform Raku Room of any material changes to the project scope or property conditions

10. Disclaimers

Interior design services involve judgement and aesthetic decisions that cannot be fully specified in advance. Raku Room makes no representation that any design proposal will meet the Client's expectations in every respect; however, we commit to working collaboratively and in good faith throughout the revision process.

Raku Room is not a licensed contractor and does not carry out construction work. Faithful Execution Support is a coordination and monitoring service and does not constitute a construction management contract. The Client remains responsible for engaging and contractually managing any contractor or tradesperson.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, Raku Room's liability to the Client in connection with any Service is limited to the total fees paid for that specific Service. Raku Room is not liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages, including loss of property value or loss of use.

12. Cancellation and Termination

Either party may terminate the engagement by written notice. If the Client cancels before the site visit (Character Reading) or before design work commences (other services), Raku Room will refund any fees paid less a reasonable administration fee. If work has commenced, fees proportionate to work completed are non-refundable.

Raku Room may terminate an engagement if the Client materially breaches these terms, fails to make payment, or if circumstances beyond our control prevent the work from proceeding.

13. Confidentiality

Raku Room treats all information about the Client's property, personal circumstances, and project as confidential. We do not share project images or details publicly without the Client's written consent. This confidentiality obligation continues after the engagement ends.

14. Dispute Resolution

In the event of any dispute, the parties agree to first attempt to resolve the matter through direct discussion in good faith. If resolution cannot be reached within 30 days, either party may refer the matter to a mediator agreed between them. If mediation fails, the dispute may be referred to the courts of Malaysia.

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia.

15. General

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. These terms constitute the entire agreement between the parties regarding the Services and supersede all prior discussions. Raku Room may update these terms from time to time; continued use of the Site or engagement of services following an update constitutes acceptance.
